Rapper attacked on stage at concert in San Diego



SAN DIEGO (KABC) – A 19-year-old rapper was in the middle of his set at a concert in San Diego when a member of the crowd rushed onto the stage and attacked him.

XXXTentacion was in the middle of a performance at the Observatory North Park on Wednesday night when a man jumped onto the stage and knocked him down.

A video posted online by DJ Akademiks shows the moment the rapper was taken aback, punched and knocked unconscious.

Security quickly rushed onto the scene, invading the attacker and hitting him repeatedly.

Things then escalated when members of the public got involved.

The fray eventually spilled onto the streets, where there was a strong response from the police.

The historic theater can hold over 1,100 people and is said to have been crowded.

Officers moved quickly, trying to disperse the crowd.

One person was reportedly stabbed and taken to hospital, but the injury was described as not life threatening.

XXXTentacion then posted a video online, claiming that he believed it was a setup. Officers review surveillance camera footage to investigate the incident.

No arrests have been made so far.
