New Pixel Buds Pro firmware update 2.14 rolling out

Last week, the Pixel Buds Pro day one update became widely available, and today Google is rolling out the new firmware version 2.14.

Update: Google said this afternoon that the new firmware is “rolling out slowly” and contains “general bug fixes and improvements”.

Open the Pixel Buds app/preferences and go to More settings > Firmware update. A “Manual update available” of 120+version_2.12_signed at 122+version_2.14_signed should be available for Pixel Buds Pro. (Google in the last week support post referred to updates using the last sequence rather than the first digits, which might become difficult to maintain as the product matures.)

We see this update in the US after manual checking, and there is also a report from central Europe.

This process takes a few minutes and updates the left/right earphone first. Once the new firmware is downloaded, a reboot is initiated manually from your phone. There is then a “Checking for update…” process which is longer than a simple reconnection.

Once the headphones are updated, “your case will be updated when you store your headphones in the charging case for about 10 minutes”.

For comparison, it took the Pixel Buds A-Series three months after launch to get their first update.
