Fall Concert Series: San Diego Chamber Music Society

Join the library for our fall ConcertSeries Fridays from September 3 to November 5. Each concert will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Winn Hall. The doors will open 15 minutes before the show. All performances will also be streamed live on the library’s Facebook page.

On Friday September 24, the San Diego ChamberMusic Society will perform “From Beethoven to Broadway, music for Horn and Piano”. With selections from famous composers from the past; Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Cherubini and 20th century American composers like Burt Bacharach, Mitch Leigh, Stephen Schwartz, Jerome Kern and Henry Mancini, there is something for everyone.

Beverly Reese Dorcy – piano / percussion, was previously principal percussionist with the Fresno Philharmonic, Tacoma Opera, BellevuePhilharmonic, San Francisco Women’s Philharmonic, Monterey Opera, Monterey PopsOrchestra, Golden Gate Opera and Classical Philharmonic. She has also performed with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, and Sun Valley Summer Symphony in Idaho.

Bruce Dorcy- French cor, was a member of the National Ballet of Canada and the Canadian Opera Orchestras for 24 years (principal / third horn) and of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra for 11 years (principal horn) and also played in Broadway in New York for 6 years (“Fiddler on the Roof”, “Promises, Promises”, “Man of La Mancha”). Occasional performances with the New York City Opera, SeattleSymphony, Seattle Opera, Toronto Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Western OperaTheatre, Opera San Jose, Monterey Opera, Monterey Pops, Golden Gate Opera, SanDiego Chamber Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic etc.
