With 6 albums under her belt, an active touring
career throughout the U.S. and a string of
accolades from the likes of The Washington
Post, The Village Voice and The New Yorker,
Susan Werner has become one of the defining
artists of the folk music genre. Her songs
effortlessly slide between folk, jazz and pop, and
are delivered with a sassy wit and classic
midwestern charm.
  • "Susan Werner, a clever songwriter and an engaging performer, brings literacy
and wit back to popular song." ~ The New Yorker

  • "(Susan Werner is) a triply blessed artist who sings adroitly, plays the piano
smartly and, best of all, writes songs of genuine distinction and high craft..." ~
    Chicago Tribune

  • "(Werner is) a songwriter and musician who is in such complete command of her
gifts that it's almost scary." ~ All Music Guide

  • "Vulnerability has rarely been so witty or concise in modern song." ~ Boston Herald

  • "Always an impressive songwriter, Werner continues to compose sharp, funny,
compassionate lyrics, a gift rare enough to set her apart..." ~ The Washington Post

  • "The classically trained and jazz inspired singer is redefining the genre and winning
admirers around the country..." ~ Philadelphia Inquirer

  • "I Can't Be New is what happens when one of the most intelligent, sophisticated
    folk-pop singer-songwriters turns 90 degrees. ... She succeeds marvelously." ~
    SingOut!

  • "This woman is great.   Period." ~ Music Row (Nashville)

Singer/songwriter David Wilcox combines a warm, baritone
vocal tone and poetic lyricism with a unique guitar style
that blends soft jazz and folk sensibilities to create a
wonderfully intimate stage persona.

Often compared to
James Taylor and John Martyn, Wilcox
has built a solid fan base for his well-crafted folk-pop tunes.
The New York Times described Wilcox as "...a superb
guitarist whose sparkling accompaniments are anchored in
a deep ringing vibrancy."

For David Wilcox, all roads have led him to where he
wanted to be.  All the songs, all the shows, all the miles, all
the struggles and triumphs and breakthroughs, have
brought him here, to this particular spot, to this fine
Vista.
The result is a joyous, musically diverse album that fully
combines his deeply observant lyrical touch with music that
moves the feet as well as the soul.

By the time David takes the AMSD stage, his new CD,
Airstream, will be available!!
“For any singer-songwriter to be able to muster passion, hope and grace after 15 years in the
unsung folk genre is an accomplishment, and as such,David Wilcox is infinitely
accomplished.”  ~
Paste Magazine

“A charismatic performance by a star still waiting to be discovered by a much larger
audience” ~
The New York Times

"Fueled by brilliantly articulate guitar, an honestly pretty baritone, and deft lyrics, he
combines the best of both pop and modern folk aesthetics." ~
Boston Globe

"But Wilcox has that specific inner light - he can carry any issue of significance to him
straight into a listeners heart... And when he does it, to borrow one of his song titles, he
makes it look easy." ~
LA Weekly
Ramblin' Jack Elliott - April 17
www.RamblinJack.com
Ramblin' Jack Elliott is one of folk music's most enduring
characters. Since he first came on the scene in the late '50s, Elliott
influenced everyone from
Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger to the Rolling
Stones
and the Grateful Dead. The son of a New York doctor and a
onetime traveling companion of
Woody Guthrie, Elliott used his
self-made cowboy image to bring his love of folk music to one
generation after another.

Jack is quite possibly at the artistic and creative peak of his career.
He continues to collect and pass on stories, to hone his repertoire,
and to gain new fans. His friend, the great cowboy poet and singer
Buck Ramsey perhaps sums it up best when he says, "One of the
great things about listening to Jack over the years is to hear how
subtly over time he closes in on a song until he owns it, makes it his
own so completely that anyone else performs it at his own peril. A
good thorough listening will convince most that the vintage
Ramblin' Jack Elliott began about the time he hit sixty a few years
back. And he seems to have, perhaps more instinctively than
consciously, pared his performing repertoire down to the gather he
would have carry him into posterity."

“When I Woke Up This Morning…”  It’s one of
those phrases that can trigger a flashback for
anyone who recalls the classic 60's folk-rock hit
made famous by
We Five.  The group will be
performing in concert for AcousticMusicSanDiego
on Saturday night, April 19.

We Five was nominated for a Grammy as the best
new artist of 1965, and they are now in their 4th
decade of making musical magic. The group’s blend
of vocals and deft guitar work made their million
selling recording of 'You Were On My Mind' one of
the biggest hits in the Summer of 65. 40 years and
many albums later, they just keep getting better.

As its name implies, Austin, TX-based retro trio
Hot Club of Cowtown attempts to be a cross
between
Django Reinhardt's Quintet of the Hot
Club of France
and Bob Wills' Texas Playboys,
playing stripped-down Western swing in an
acoustic jazz style using just violin, guitar, and
bass. The band's repertoire reflects its hybrid
taste, mixing covers spanning nearly a century
of music with originals composed  by Elana
(James) Fremerman (violin) and Whit Smith
(guitar).

Bassist Jake Erwin has now re-joined Elana and
Whit (who have appeared at AMSD with other
bassists over the last couple of years) so this
promises to be another night of great music
from this trend-setting, yet retro, trio.
Terry Sylvester - April 27
www.TerrySylvester.com
Their show covers a full spectrum of sounds from whisper quiet folk songs, to power ballads and folk rock
standards with all the stops pulled out. The AMSD venue matches their classic sound with a classic venue
and great acoustics making it the perfect place to see and hear them up close and personal. It’s been years
since We Five last performed in San Diego so make plans now for a special night that you won’t forget.
